The big news today is that our speaker lineup is here! Check out the list of speakers and their talks below, and get ready for another year in Portland.
Portland 2026 speakers¶
We’re excited to announce the lineup of speakers and talks for our Portland 2026 conference! A huge thank you to everyone who submitted a proposal—this conference wouldn’t be possible without your contributions.
Each year, we curate a diverse range of voices to share insights from our community. As the role of “documentarian” varies greatly among us, we aim for topics that cover practical, philosophical, and technical ideas, with a touch of whimsy for good measure:
Sarah Deaton: The Git Commands I Avoided for 9 Years (and Why I Wish I Hadn’t)
Mary Elise Dedicke: Documentation Thinking Beyond the Docs: Lessons from Decision-Facing Technical Writing
Alex Garnett: Writing the Docs when the Protocol is the Product
Ethan Palm: What the Data Shows When Docs Meet LLMs (and Why I’m Excited for the Future)
Annie Zempel: Pillars That Hold: Structuring Documentation Around User Progress
Rakesh Pasupuleti: What I Learned Building an AI Documentation Auditor (And What It Found in 500+ Pages of Docs)
Darlene ChaniMaya Postma: “Chat, Are We Cooked?” Help in the Moment: Designing Policy Documentation for High-Stakes, Real-Time Decisions
Adam Michael Wood: Drops of Jupyter: An Exploration of the Notebook Ecosystem
Busayo Ojo: You Don’t Need More New Contributors — You Need Onboarding That Actually Works
Alina Desiatnikova: The Invisible Work: What It Takes to Be the First (and Only) Tech Writer on the Team
Christian Miles: The Most Human Documentation
Aileen Mary: How We Deprecated 500+ Articles: Cleaning Up Documentation at Scale
Sarah Lin: How to Win Docs and Influence Robots: Improving Robot Accuracy Through Better Docs
